Pro Perspective
Pro Perspective with Nick Apex XDL is going into its fifth year in 2010. So when I was asked to spill a few hundred words for Stunters Edge, I thought I would reflect on my ’09 experience with the series. How hard is it to remain a relevant force on the competition circuit? I’ve been asking myself this question all year as my winning streak that was going so strong in ’08 crumbled in the ’09 season. It took one accident – one endo that slapped me to the ground and forever changed my left shoulder. With a two-month recovery forcing me to ...
XDL Round 2 Nashville
The Stunters Edge crew and entourage pulled in to the Preston hotel, on Nashville’s east side, and checked in quickly so we could get to the Nashville Speedway and check out the riders, venue and surface. It was a beautiful May day, and the venue had the best surface I had seen all year. We saw our first crash early Friday morning, when Nick Apex, last years’ XDL champion, hit the wall with his newly repainted bike. Nick is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, but he is very hard on himself when he makes a mistake. Although ...

King of the South ‘09
Knoxville, Tennessee, is a premiere area of the U.S.A. to own a sport bike – or any motorcycle for that matter. Of the many nearby historic and scenic motorcycle routes, the Dragon’s Tail is one of the most memorable. The Dragon is located in Deals Gap motorcycle resort in the mountains of North Carolina, which stretch north into Tennessee. In an 11-mile stretch, 318 curves tell the tale of many infamous wrecks and the curvy paradise of motorcyclists everywhere. I have to say, it would be more fun if everyone were going the same direction. Seymour, just a few miles south ...
XDL Round 1 Lake Havasu
Lake Havasu, Arizona is a hidden paradise in the middle of the desert. Our journey to the nearest major airport, Las Vegas, was a bit treacherous. It was one of those flights where every plane was trying to land at once, so we had to circle the airport several times. JP and I were seated near a group of venture capitalists, middle-aged guys who have fun making vast sums of money. They had tons of Vegas stories to tell, along with tips of how to write off a Vegas trip as a business expense. They became more intoxicated as the ...

BikeStyles presents Canton Biker Boyz "The Beat Down" This video shows a lot of street riding scenes, and if you look close enough, you may even see the notorious Chubbz riding around. “The Beat Down” features good music and fancy screen transitions, and there’s even some chopper riding. Chizzy is definitely holding down the O.G. look. The most amazing scene is where they try to cut a man’s arm off – wow! And you don’t want to miss Chizzy pulling off the big flamingos with a smile. How tall is that man?
Starboyz Stunt Fest ‘09
Sandusky, Ohio, was crammed with the mid-June Cedar Point crowd, making it tough to find a hotel. The town was also packed with tons of bikes everywhere for their annual bike week. The local police were cashing in on the bike scene, with someone pulled over on every corner. We (carefully) cruised ahead to Sandusky Speedway, having already driven a few hours from the home of BJ, an Ohio friend and old school stunt rider. JP said his usual hellos as we drove in, seeing StarBoyz’ own Kevin Marino right inside the gate. He hooked us up with wrist bands ...

Top Dawg
Top Dawg Legend - Kyle Woods When it comes to living on the edge, not many hold a candle to Kyle Woods. Now a professional stuntman, Kyle is one of the legends of street bike freestyle. He is always interested in doing something dangerous – especially when someone else is along for the ride – as I discovered when some friends and I spent a couple of days with Kyle in Florida.

Righteous Stunt Clutch
Review by Bill Dixon From the manufacturer: The Righteous Stunt Clutch is an easy pull style clutch assembly that is milled completely out of billet aluminum. The RSC is designed very similiar to the other easy pull style clutches on the market, but with a few changes that make the Righteous Stunt Clutch virtually bulletproof. The three cable positions usually found on an easy pull style lever are eliminated, leaving only the one “easiest” pull setting. The swivel adjuster on the perch has also been eliminated, leaving you with a unit that is made out of MUCH stronger material with a much ...

Stunt Lab
This section of the magazine is where top stunters explain in step-by-step detail, how to perform the tricks of the trade. For beginner and intermediate level stunters. Slow Wheelies with Kyle Woods The slow wheelie is one of the most important tricks you’ll ever learn because it’s the basis of all wheelies: circle wheelies, no-handers or any kind of combo wheelie. You have to learn how to balance the bike at a slower pace. When you’re doing high-speed wheelies, the centrifugal force of the wheel balances out the bike, so you only have to think about throttle control. But on slow wheelies, ...
